Gentle Yoga

Special emphasis on balance in this class.  Each student has the option of using a chair as extra support while doing standing poses.  Limited up/downs and no excessive stress on the knees or wrists in this class.  This class accommodates a wide range of abilities.

Alignment-based Hatha Yoga

Alignment is about offering the safest way to do the postures and minimizing wear and tear on the joints.  In this style we make use of props, like straps and blocks, and learn the actions of the poses.  Poses are taught with an attention to detail.  This is the first class in the Thursday three class rotation.

Vinyasa Flow

In this more active style, poses are strung together.  Fluid movement is coordinated with the breath to create seamless transitions from one pose to the next.  Be prepared to move and flow.  Vinyasa classes are offered as part of the Thursday session, every second class.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a simple and slow practice designed to calm the mind and stretch the body.  It can complement an already active lifestyle and help free us from the constant chatter of our minds.  It is practiced while seated or lying on the floor.  You can expect forward bends, backbends, and gentle twists.  The poses are typically held from 3-5 minutes.  These longer, static (nonmoving) holds enable us to lengthen and stretch fascia and connective tissue.  We use this time to focus on the present moment by observing the breath.  Yin yoga classes are offered as part of the Thursday session, every third class.
